Hey, thanks for joining me for Curves Welcome podcast. By the end of this session, you should be able to apply four techniques to be able to live life intentionally. So how to live intentionally? Well, every day we are bombarded by hundreds, maybe even 1000s of disruptors. These disruptors come in the form of these sly little weeds in our garden of life. At first, we may marvel at how quickly they transform from green little shoots to these magnificent plants with flowers and majestic heights. They crowd out the plants that we intentionally seeded, though, but we ignore that because they're so beautiful and captivating. They fill our entire garden bed, overshadowing and eventually strangling the plants that we seeded. They take over everything, leaving no room or nourishment for the plants that we originally wanted to have thrive. In the short term, allowing those weeds to flourish seemed like a wonderful idea. They transformed our garden into this budding delicacy. Without any effort. We didn't have to water or nourish them. They dazzled us, the spectator. In the long term, however, they choked out and killed the plants that would have offered us sustenance and nutrition. They robbed us of food. They may look pretty, but they don't serve the purpose of what we wanted that garden lot to turn into. Our original intention was to nourish ourselves with organic food grown in a sustainable manner. And what we allowed to take over was a greedy giant network of disruptors that choke the life out of our garden.

If we would have asked what value that weed would bring at its earliest appearance, we could have surmised, the seeded plants would offer more value. And we could have crushed that weed's chance of taking over right from the start when it fit between our two fingers. To crush it now, though, would require a sharp garden tool and muscle power. And even still, you'd be left with nothing in its place. Because it killed your original seed.

Disruptions are weeds in our life. The more we allow them the space to grow, they will take over and choke the things that bring us nourishment, and the ability to grow and thrive. To live with intention means that we get to choose those things that bring us value, and focus and act on those things, crushing the appealing disruptors between our two fingers before they overtake those things that bring us value.

So how can we live intentionally? Well, here are ways that you can crush those weeds and improve the odds that your valuable plants will thrive instead. The first thing you can do is every single morning, write out your intentions of the day, write something like today I intend to and then list what you intend to do. No one's ever going to say I intend to waste countless hours scrolling through social media today. Make this list count. Fill it with items that will bring your day value, anything that doesn't bring value, get rid of it and replace it with the things that do.

The second thing you can do to add intention to your life is every single evening, review your intention list for the day. Look at those items that you intended in the morning and see how you did. This is a self reflection step that is critical and most often ignored. How will you ever determine how you did if you don't evaluate yourself? Look at your intentions and ask yourself did this add value? What did I learn? How can I do this better.

The third thing that you can do to add intention is to add a ritual that you will do before you embark on any of these intentions. A ritual may be a specific quick exercise you do right before you take action on your intention. So maybe you do five deep breaths and then five shoulder rolls. That's your sign to cue your brain. Okay, it is game time. We're going to crush those weeds in the garden and we're going to focus on those seeds that we planted instead.

The fourth thing that you can do to make your life more intentional is to add wiggle room into your day. You can't expect to overwater a seed and have it grow. It's going to drown because you didn't give it the space to absorb the water. Give yourself space. A little wiggle room goes a long way. Don't spend your entire day taking action on your intentions. Do an intention, and then relax into wiggle room. And make no mistake, wiggle room does not equal distraction. Wiggle room is intentional. And it means taking a walk, maybe sitting quietly with a cup of tea, maybe doing some brain exercise like a puzzle. It doesn't mean scrolling mindlessly through social media. Give your brain the rest and the wiggle room it needs to work its best. So you work hard. You rest and you repeat. And you do this throughout the day.

If you follow these four tips, I believe that you will lead a more intentional life. So what are your intentions? But what do you plan to do with this day? Share this in the comments as a reflection piece to be able to help reinforce what you just learned. Thanks for tuning in. Until next time, keep facing and embracing those curves in life by learning new things and then sharing them with others.
